Car crashes can be a horrifying experience no matter how serious it may be. After your auto accident you may experience trauma, emotional disorientation, and physical injury that you may not notice immediately. Whiplash is one of the more common injuries. Symptoms include neck pain, shoulder pain, upper and lower back pain as well as stiffness in your muscle due to subluxation, which is when a vertebrae or joint becomes unaligned or moves out of its normal position.

Whiplash

Whiplash is caused when there is a sudden violent force moving your body forward and backwards. This causes tears in your muscle tissue and may cause the discs in your spine to move out of alignment. If left untreated your injuries may become more serious and permanent.

Some symptoms include…

  • Headaches

  • Neck/shoulder pain

  • Upper/lower back pain

  • Nausea/dizziness

  • Ringing in ear

  • Difficulty swallowing

  • Numbness in arm/hand

Things to prepare for...

Provide details of your accident, such as the position of your body, the way your head was facing, if your body was twisted at the time of impact. Be specific when describing your symptoms, it will help your chiropractor treat and make a treatment plan that is specific to you.
